It’s time to get over your winter blues

It’s time to get over your winter blues and embrace all that spring has to offer! The days are longer, the weather is warmer, and it’s time to eliminate that cabin fever.

Alberta has a lot to offer all year around, but especially during spring. Here is a list of things you can do during the season to get yourself more active, and enjoying what spring has to offer.

  1. Hiking Trails
Although there are some pathways that may be icy, spring still makes it the perfect time to explore trails as it’s not yet blistering hot, but not freezing cold. Marsh Loop trail is a great place to discover – starting from the parking lot of the Cave and Basin National Historic Site, and just a few short steps from Banff Avenue. You may even get to see some wild life on your journey! Other trails you can enjoy are Bow Falls, Johnston Canyon, Vermilion Lakes, and many more.
  2. Biking
Hiking isn’t the only spring activity you can do – biking trails is also something perfect to do during spring time. There are dozens upon dozens of scenic trails around townsites. Some that range from flat, paved pathways to backcountry trails that would be best taken on a fat bike. If you’re someone who is looking for a good adventure, head to Tunnel Mountain, Sundance Canynon, or Canmore Nordic Centre.
  3. Skating
The weather may be warmer, but you can still partake in outdoor winter activities. An example being skating on Lake Louise during the beautiful Spring – and if you go early enough in the season, you may even find an ice castle on the rink directly in front of the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louis. You may even want to bring your hockey stick for a potential game of shinny!
  4. Snowshoe Tours
If there’s still some snow around, you may even want to go on a guided snowshoe tour, which is also available in many spots in the Bow Valley, including Lake Louis Ski Resort where you can get a lesson on history, landscape, and wildlife in the surrounding area. These guides can last up to two hours and can at times include gondola rides, snowshoe rentals, and hot chocolate!

As you can see, there are abundance of things you can do during spring in Alberta – so grab your light coat, runners, and enjoy the beautiful outdoor
